Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses fine, sterile needles to create tiny microchannels in the skin. These controlled micro-injuries trigger your body’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production — two key proteins that keep skin smooth, firm, and youthful.
The result is improved skin texture and tone, reduced fine lines, minimized acne scars, and smaller-looking pores. At Aesthetics of NKY, all microneedling treatments include Dermaplaning (a $60 value!) to gently remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz, allowing for better product absorption and even more radiant results.
Microneedling is safe for most skin types and offers a powerful yet low-downtime option for overall skin rejuvenation.
HOW IT WORKS
During the procedure, a microneedling device is passed evenly over the skin, creating tiny, precise punctures that stimulate collagen and elastin production. These microchannels also enhance the penetration of targeted serums, maximizing their effectiveness.
The procedure typically takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to maximize comfort, and most clients describe the sensation as mild to moderate prickling.
For clients seeking even more dramatic results, microneedling can be paired with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. This advanced treatment uses your body’s own healing properties to accelerate recovery and boost collagen production.
How We Prepare PRP:
A small blood sample is drawn and placed into a centrifuge, which spins the sample rapidly to separate the platelets from the other blood components. The concentrated plasma — rich in platelets — is then applied topically or injected into the treatment area immediately after microneedling.
Because PRP is derived from your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is extremely low, making it a safe and natural enhancement to your microneedling treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Following your microneedling session, your skin may appear slightly red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually subsides within 24–48 hours. Light flaking or peeling may occur as your skin renews itself, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath.
Most clients see noticeable improvement within a few weeks, with continued results as collagen production ramps up over the next few months. A series of treatments — usually spaced 4–6 weeks apart — is recommended for optimal results, with maintenance sessions as needed.
With minimal downtime and powerful skin-rejuvenating benefits, microneedling is a versatile treatment that can be incorporated into a long-term skincare plan to keep your skin looking healthy and vibrant.
Microneedling, especially when combined with PRP, is an excellent option for achieving healthier, more youthful-looking skin.
