What are Weight Loss Injections?

Even with improvement in diet & exercise, weight loss can be difficult. In addition, several medical conditions can make it more challenging for some. Utilizing Semaglutide, our board-certified nurse practitioner can assist patients with this adjunct treatment to diet and exercise.

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, meaning that it mimics the action of the human incretin glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), thereby increasing insulin secretion and increasing blood sugar disposal and improving glycemic control. Additionally, digestion is slowed, leading to earlier satiety. Semaglutide has been FDA approved for the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus Type II since 2017 and has subsequently been FDA approved for long term weight management in adults.
